Mercedes to McLarens: Mixed Freight & Luxury Cars

“Excellence is to do a common thing in an uncommon way” – Booker T. Washington

It starts off with a little thing with four wheels. Maybe as a child you’d hold onto that little red car for dear life; a Ferrari, though you didn’t know what model and it didn’t matter because all you knew was that it was red so it must be the fastest car ever.

You raced that little Ferrari to and fro over that busy city street, endlessly screeching around corners until a grown-up took you off the rug because it was bedtime. Then you got a little older and these miniature machines were zooming past your best friend’s, zig-zagging in the middle of the track and defying gravity on huge loops as you tried to win your sixth Scalextric race of the evening.

Through your teenage years, you ogled the TV on Sunday nights as three familiar faces showed you the ins and outs of all the cars you could only dream of owning, a white-suited petrolhead ripping them through a wet track somewhere in the sticks of Surrey. Now, your ears prick up and the little hairs stand up on the back of your neck whenever you hear the grumble of a high-performance engine pass you on the road.

If you’ve visited any part of Mayfair, you’ll have seen a fair few G-Wagens and gold-wrapped Lamborghinis parked kerbside. Cars this valuable are usually so pristine that they look like they’ve never been driven a day in their lives. And maybe they haven’t - but there’s a chance that the very vehicle you’re looking at has passed through Mixed Freight’s facility.

We all know that a McLaren 720s would be a pretty expensive drive across the world, and that’s where we come in. That McLaren travelling three-and-a-half thousand miles home to Abu Dhabi needs to be screened and properly handled just like any other cargo flying on aircraft.

You want your luxury vehicles in the most capable and professional hands, and that’s why, with our team at Mixed Freight and our years of expertise, we’ve built a solid reputation in the handling of the most prestigious cars, having supported them in their movement across the globe. But it’s not as straightforward as it seems.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED AT OUR 24/7 SITE

Taking a walk with us through the years at Mixed Freight, you’ll see we’ve worked with everything from the snappy little smart car and World Rally Championship race teams, to the luxurious $3 million Ferrari F50. We specialise in the handling, screening and transportation of high-value vehicles passing through the aviation industry - and you might just recognise one or two, from the mighty Mustang Barricade of Transformers, to your shaken, not stirred, DB5 of Mr Bond.

During their lifetimes, these vehicles need to be kept safe, secure, and in tip-top shape before they strut in front of a camera and end up on the screens of petrolheads and pedestrians alike. Cars of high value, such as that ultra-prestigious McLaren-Honda driven by the late, great Ayrton Senna, are so valuable that they can’t even be moved by our trusted warehouse guys.

Their road licenses (...or even their forklift licenses) don’t permit them to drive cars that zoom past corners at 200mph and burn through rubber in 20 laps. In such cases, our expertise in writing screening protocols for CAA approval are required, and we may even need highly trained engineers to visit our facility and work alongside us. Every owner of a top-notch car knows just how imperative it is that it’s kept safe and pristine.

That’s why we want to assure you that your vehicle is kept safe and away from prying eyes here at Mixed Freight. Our
regulated site is manned 24/7, with no corner uncovered by our all-seeing CCTV. We have the ability to receive, inspect,
record, and maintain surveillance across our site - and that includes our specialist secure car bays - so you can rest easy
knowing your car is in safe hands.

We pride ourselves on our meticulous and thorough care of all cargo we receive, but we know that a half-a-million-pound car is a bit more personal to you.

From the airport, our specialised roller-bed trailers allow us to collect your car stowed upon a specialist ULD (Unit
Loading Device), or on a standard curtain-sided trailer for a
crated car that needs unpacking; ready for third party
collection or delivery.

Likewise, our handling services in sea exports can involve the provision of a loading ramp to drive your car into a sea freight
container, where it is secured for its onward journey.

So, whether you need a roller-bed or a curtain-sided vehicle,
or even a car transporter, we have the in-house equipment
here at Mixed Freight to provide the efficient and
trustworthy service you need.
